Fleet

Our own vessels: carbon black feedstock and liquid sulphur The MTS Delta and Omega have a cargo capacity of approx. 2,000 tons. The MTS OTD Alpha has a capacity of approx. 2,800 tons. The following characteristics make these three vessels unique:

• modern double hull barges
• cargo heating system, making it possible to transport and deliver at the right temperature
• deepwell pumps, resulting in minimal residual cargo
• movable wheelhouse
• overall vessel height of 4.40 metres due to the movable wheelhouse and a fast-acting ballast system

OTexDelta is also responsible for the use of five specialised tankers for the transport of liquid sulphur on behalf of Zwaans van den Heuvel Tankvaart BV, a shipping company which has been a liquid sulphur transport specialist for more than 40 years. The cooperation between OTexDelta and Zwaans dates from 1996 and was intensified in 2008. Liquid sulphur is transported at a temperature of approx. 145°C, which requires specially equipped vessels (i.e. tanks, insulation, cargopumps, etc.). The five vessels available for this work are only (dedicated) used to transport liquid sulphur and are not used for any other product. More information is available online (www.zwaansvdheuvel.nl).

Charter vessels OTexDelta has an extensive fleet of permanent charter vessels to transport carbon black feedstock, related black products and clean mineral products. A longstanding collaborative partnership means these vessels have been part of our own fleet for years. As they are primarily used for regular customers, we can guarantee compliance with and implementation of customer needs and preferences as they apply on board our own vessels.

With a view to ensuring optimal cooperation, we can, if required, provide technical and administrative support to charter vessel owners in addition to the usual commercial and operational services.

Quality and safety All vessels, both those of charter firms and our own, undergo a strict and comprehensive internal audit twice annually. A checklist of more than 110 items relating to quality, safety, technical aspects, as well as crew and legal requirements guarantee the highest possible degree of reliability and service. Our ISO 9001:2008 quality assurance system applies unconditionally to the office work and activities on board all vessels. In addition to the internal on board and office audits, we carry out numerous daily, weekly and/or monthly (technical) audits and checks. Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance conducts an audit twice annually, as well as a periodical recertification procedure once every three years.

Together with the annual European Barge Inspection Scheme (EBIS) audit, carried out by the joint oil and petrochemical companies/customers on board each vessel, the extensive system of procedures, instructions, checks and audits at OTexDelta and Zwaans, applicable in the offices and on board the vessels, ensure a high level of safety and quality, which is essential in a sector like the inland barging sector.
